The Golden Triangle is a golfer's paradise offering some of the top courses in Europe. At present there are seven 18 hole golf courses all offering different challenges and lush fairways of natural beauty. There are many tournaments offered all year and competitions all year round for members and visitors.

Vale do Lobo
Vale do Lobo is home to two challenging and outstanding golf courses, The Royal and the Ocean. Based on original concepts by the legendary Sir Henry Cotton and re-developed by the respected American golf architect Rocky Roquemore, the Vale do Lobo courses have twice been host to the Portuguese Open.

Both take players through umbrella pine and fig tree-lined fairways to the Atlantic, the Royal playing dramatically along the cliff’s edge, while the Ocean sweeps daintily down to the beach. This combination of links and parkland golf provides an enjoyable game for golfers of all standards. Its features include the almost island green of the 9th and the famous 16th, with cliff-top carryover, one of the most celebrated golfing images in the world, which has become the veritable symbol of golf in the Algarve.

The Ocean Golf Course features undulating fairways which run alongside nature reserve, before leading gently down to the shores of the Atlantic. Its emblematic holes are two challenging and spectacular Par 4s, the 11th and the 14th, which treat golfers to some of the most spectacular views in the Algarve - and the Par 3 15th, which runs alongside the beach.

Quinta do Lago
Quinta do Lago is one of the Algarve’s most popular golf destinations and it’s courses are rated among the Top 25 in all of Europe. The venue has played host to eight Portuguese Opens and continues to be a venue of choice for national and international competitions.

Each course is an experience of Augusta type fare and generous, lush fairways are intermittently decorated with clusters of pine, heather, broom and wild flowers and the carefully tended greens, considered among the best in Portugal are fast, true and sometimes humbling. Natural water features are sprinkled throughout and bunkers break the landscape almost as a constant reminder, to the high handicapper and the journeyman pro, of this great golfing challenge.

All courses enjoy first class driving ranges, a golf academy, putting greens, pro-shops and clubhouses with large and informal terraces, the perfect setting to relax with friends and family, to toast the victor or, console the vanquished The three courses at Quinta do Lago offer different challenges. The terrain of the South and North course is comprised of firm, sandy Algarvean soil, that gives a helpful impetus off the tee. An array of features, including water, bunker and an undulating landscape makes the approach to each green memorable - rewarding the deft touch or the sleight of hand. The ample greens are of Creeping Bent grass, the fairways Bermuda and the ever changing landscape and layout means no two shots are the same while the next hole is as individual, as the previous.

Complimenting Quinta do Lago’s existing resources and completing its offering is Laranjal. Originally an orange grove, Laranjal has been nurtured by time, sculpted by nature and expertly designed to provide a world class golfing experience. With 6,500 metres of manicured terrain, it is a par 72, comprising five par 5s, eight par 4s and five par 3s and yet adequate concession.

Pinheiros Altos
Pinheiros Altos is established as one of the most prestigious and successful premier golf and leisure resorts in Europe. The original 18 holes were designed by the respected American architect Ronald Fream and the additional 9 holes, created by the highly regarded Portuguese golf architect George Santana da Silva, opened in 2007. The now 27 hole Championship Pinheiros Altos Golf is presented in three contrasting nine hole formats.

San Lorenzo
The San Lorenzo Golf Course was opened in 1988 and takes advantage of wonderful topography on the Quinta do Lago estate, winding its way gently over undulating pine woodland. The 18 holes lie in the unspoilt Southeast corner of Quinta do Lago, bordering the Ria Formosa Estuary and salt water lagoons.

The course was designed by the American golf architect Joseph Lee and the beautiful Bermuda grass fairways provide perfect playing conditions. The San Lorenzo Golf Course is laid out in a figure of eight and at the heart lies the San Lorenzo Clubhouse with a golf pro shop; comfortable changing facilities; welcoming bar and restaurant.
