Varandas do Lago is located just 20 minutes from Faro International Airport in the heart of the Algarve. The town of Almancil is less then 10 minutes drive away as is the popular resorts of Vale do Lobo and Quinta do Lago. Ancao beach with miles of golden sand and fabulous beach side restaurants is just 1.2 kilometres away. For golf lovers there are four golf courses close by in nearby Quinta do Lago including Laranjal and Pinheiros as well as the Ocean and Royal course in Vale do Lobo. The nearby Tennis Academys at Vale do Lobo and Quinta do Lago offer a range of tennis packages for those that like an active holiday. The nearest supermarkets are from the Pingo Doce chain and are located at the entrance of Vale do Lobo and adjacent the Quinta do Lago plaza. For a larger shop Apolonia in the centre of Almancil has all the brands you get at home. They also offer a delivery service. The owners have recently opened a second restaurant nearby ‘Gourmet Natural’ which is also worth a visit. Pequeno Mundo French cusine in a stunning setting, located on the outskirts of Almancil. Well woth a visit for a romantic evening. Restaurante Dois Passos 2 Passos Restaurant provides exceptional service and great quality food, in a spectacular setting overlooking Ancao Beach. Not to be missed. Thai Garden The Thai Garden is situated on the grounds of Sao Gabriel. The chefs are all from Thailand and produce some of the best Thai food we have ever tasted. During the summer months the tables and chairs are outside in the lush garden. The noodle dishes and curries are divine. Casa do Campo Sitting under twinkling lights of the fig tree in summer is always high-light of any holiday. Fish is a specialty here but they also do great steak and rack of lamb. Make sure you book early as Casa is busy all year round. Although a little on the pricey side, Casa is a must for any trip. Bovino Elegant steakhouse located off roundabout 6 Quinta do Lago serving some of the best steaks in the Algarve. There is also a pool and cocktail bar. Florian Located in Vale Verde is the popular Florian restaurant. The old style dining room is warm and cosy in winter. Florian is very popular with the locals so make sure to book.
