The Algarve Beyond Summer and why Visit in Spring or Autumn?

12 October 2026

Most people associate the Algarve with summer holidays, long days at the beach and afternoons spent by the pool. But the Algarve is just as lovely outside the busiest months, and spring and early autumn can be a great time to visit. With fewer people around and temperatures that are often more comfortable for exploring, it's a chance to enjoy the region at a slower pace. You can spend the morning walking along the coast, visit a local market or take a stroll through the old streets of towns such as Loulé, Tavira or Lagos without the summer crowds. It's also a good time to get outdoors. The weather is often ideal for walking, cycling or playing golf, particularly around Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo, where you'll find some of the Algarve's best known golf courses. And after a day out, there's nothing quite like sitting down for a long lunch or enjoying dinner outside at a local restaurant. Staying in a private villa makes the experience even better. You can enjoy a quiet breakfast on the terrace, spend time in the garden or simply relax with a book and enjoy having your own space. On warmer days, a swim in the pool might still be an option, too. We have plenty of villas with pool heating if you are planning to visit outside the summer months. At Sunboundvillas, we have a range of holiday properties across the Algarve, whether you are looking for a relaxing break, a golf holiday or some time away with family and friends. If you are thinking of visiting in spring or autumn, we would be very happy to help you find a villa that is right for you.
